This invited session
in KES2011,
Kaiserslautern, Germany, provides an opportunity of discussing various topics
related to document analysis, knowledge science, and their synergistic
technologies. Nowadays, researches on those topics give essential
contributions to new ICT fields, such as digital libraries,
e-business, semantic web and desktop, e-learning, e-nursing. An
important viewpoint is that those fields cannot be established by
some single technology; they require active and close collaboration
of specialists on not only application technologies but also
fundamental technologies. We hope that this invited session can be
an opportunity to learn recent technology development
and on-going projects related to the topics, and, hopefully, a trigger
to start new collaborations.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Applications of knowledge science and document analysis
data/text mining
knowledge acquisition
knowledge management
intelligent media
information retrieval
Related fundamental technologies
document image processing
pattern analysis
artificial intelligence
natural language processing
Papers describing original work concerning new algorithms, tool design,
implementation, and real-world application are welcome.
